Update from Khumjung, Nepal

Dr. Sigi Schwarzenbacher and Sonja Nocker are currently in Khumjung and visited the girls at the Edmund Hillary School, as well as their hostel.

We brought gifts for Sabina and Sikha. Their Austrian pen pals had lovingly packed school bags filled with surprises and sent them all the way to Nepal. From us, the girls also received new jackets and shoes.

We have a very positive impression of the school. The hostel also makes a very good impression, and the hostel mother seems caring and supportive.

We spoke with the school principal as well. There are extra classes for students who need additional support, and we have enrolled both girls in these classes.

Sikha is doing very well with her studies. Sabina is still struggling, especially with reading. The principal believes that her previous school was very poor and that she missed some important basic education there. When the girls arrived at the new school, they were even suffering from lice. This made it very clear to us once again how urgently the change of school was needed.

Today, we have the strong feeling that both girls are in a safe and supportive environment and now have a real opportunity for a better future.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us so strongly in this project and helped make this opportunity possible for Sabina and Sikha.

A very special thank you goes to Pancha Ram Rai. He has been a great support and tremendous help from the very beginning. He has accompanied the girls throughout this journey and remains in constant contact with them.
